Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 20 (ANI): Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party, the main opposition party in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of pursuing dynastic politics.
"Akhilesh Yadav's party follows dynastic politics. So those who run dynastic politics, whose family is his politics, will naturally speak like that (against the BJP)," Baruah said.
On April 19 Samajwadi Party chief al took a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and claimed that "nobody is liking" the latter's "story or dialogues".
"BJP's first show on the first day has become a flop. Nobody is liking BJP's story or dialogue. Their first show has become a flop. No one is coming to the ticket window," he said.
Baruah emphasised the contrast between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Akhilesh Yadav's party, highlighting the BJP's stance against family-based politics.
Our party (BJP) opposes dynastic politics and consists of individuals who work against family-based politics. In our region, common people who rise from the ground become leaders in the BJP. Here, ordinary citizens become leaders, whereas in their party, even the sons of chief ministers become leaders," Baruah said.
Notably, Akhilesh Yadav, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and SP supremo, is the son of former Chief Minister of the state and party's patriarch, Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Further, Baruah slammed the Samajwadi party chief, stating, "Those who follow dynastic politics can say anything against us, but it doesn't affect us. They speak against us because we aim to end their dynastic rule."
Earlier, in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav vowed to scrap the Agniveer scheme if the opposition coalition, the INDIA bloc, comes to power.
"I want to tell the youth that the day the INDIA bloc comes to power, we will scrap the Agniveer scheme," the SP chief said while addressing a public rally in UP's Gautam Budh Nagar on Friday.
Asserting confidence in the BJP's electoral prospects, Baruah predicted a sweeping victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam.
"We will win all 5 seats in Assam with a significant margin. Campaigning is underway for the second and third phases. The truth is, all 14 seats will be won by the BJP and its alliance parties," Baruah said.
According to the Election Commission, 75.95 per cent of voters in five parliamentary constituencies - Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Kaziranga, Dibrugarh and Jorhat, came out to exercise their franchise in the first phase of the polls held on Friday in Assam.
BJP is contesting 11 out of 14 seats in Assam, while its ally parties, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), are contesting in two seats (Barpeta and Dhubri) and UPPL in one seat (Kokrajhar), respectively.
The second phase will be held on April 26 and the remaining phases will be May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1 accordingly. The last general elections in 2019 were also held in seven phases.
Baruah also expressed optimism regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, confidently stating, "This time, we will comfortably cross 400 seats. Modi ji's slogan will be a reality once again, surpassing the 400-mark." (ANI)
