Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 12 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, regarding the construction of multiple expressways and highways in Uttar Pradesh.
According to an official letter, Akhilesh Yadav has raised the demand for the completion of the 408.77 kilometer Chambal Expressway between (Uttar Pradesh) Etawah and (Rajasthan) Kota.
The letter also demands the completion of a six-lane highway from (Madhya Pradesh) Gwalior to Lipulekh.
Additionally, the letter from the SP leader demands connecting the Bundelkhand Expressway to Satna and joining the expressway from (Uttar Pradesh) Etawah to (Uttarakhand) Haridwar.
It also demands to extend the Purvanchal Expressway by 25 kilometers to Bihar's Buxar-Bhagalpur.
Earlier in the day, Akilesh Yadav also took to his official account to speak on the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh and said that no community should become a victim of violence.
"No community, whether it is the majority of Bangladesh with a different viewpoint or the minority of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists or any other religion-sect-belief, should become a victim of violence," he posted on X.
"The Indian government should strictly raise this issue at the international level as a matter of protection of human rights. This is also a very sensitive issue of our defense and internal security," the post read further.
Bangladesh is facing a fluid political situation with Sheikh Hasina, tendering her resignation from her post on August 5 in the wake of mounting protests.
Thousands of Bangladeshi Hindus have been fleeing to neighbouring India to escape the violence.
Hindus, who make up about 8 per cent of Bangladesh's 170 million population, have traditionally supported Hasina's Awami League party, which has faced backlash following violent clashes between anti-quota protesters and security forces last month. (ANI)
