Air Quality Index worsens in Haryana's Jind

Jind (Haryana) [India], October 15 (ANI): As the winter approaches, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has worsened in the Jind district in Haryana. AQI in the district has crossed 200 even as an increasing incidence of stubble burning is reported here.
The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern. For example, an AQI value of 50 or below represents good air quality, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality.
According to the officials, in the last 15 days, 36 cases of stubble burning have been reported in the district and the administration has collected a fine of Rs 82,500 from the farmers who indulged in the stubble burning.
An increase in AQI is not good for health. It has more effect on respiratory patients and children.
As per the health experts, to avoid this, the elderly and children will have to take special care. Elderly people should wear masks when they go out if the air pollution worsens.
Meanwhile, the air quality in the national capital on Sunday morning was recorded in the 'poor' category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 245.
The AQI near Anand Vihar was recorded at 345 in the 'very poor' category, similarly, the AQI at the city's Burari Crossing area was recorded at 269, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) India.
The air quality in Delhi's ITO area was recorded as poor with an AQI of 203, while in the Punjabi Bagh area, it was recorded at 236, which is again in the poor zone.
The RK Puram area recorded an AQI of 239, at New Moti Bagh it was recorded at 267, while at Shadipur it was at 217, all in the poor category, as per SAFAR-India.
The air quality in Noida also dipped into the poor category.
