Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 30 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu addressed the Vanamahotsavam programme at ECO park in Guntur and said that the well-being of the people is his priority and that they have been aiming for 50 per cent greenery across the state.
"The well-being of the people is our priority and we are aiming for 50 per cent greenery across Andhra Pradesh. Everyone must plant at least one sapling per year," said the Andhra Pradesh CM.
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu greeted and welcomed everyone to join in the effort to protect the environment. He mentioned that today's programme, originally scheduled for Narasaraopet, had to be relocated due to unexpected rainfall. The Chief Minister emphasised the state's commitment to prioritising the well-being of its people. He encouraged everyone to plant at least one sapling per year, noting that this initiative has already led to a 0.33 per cent increase in oxygen levels. He also highlighted his long-standing support and participation in tree-planting efforts.
The Chief Minister called for collective efforts to create a greener Andhra Pradesh and stressed the importance of restoring stormwater to increase groundwater levels. He invited everyone to visit the Mangalagiri Eco Park, located near AIIMS, to experience nature's beauty and announced plans to establish eco-parks across the state. He also criticised the previous government for widespread deforestation and the exploitation of natural resources, affirming his commitment to reversing those actions.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan stated, "Thanks to everyone who participated in the Vanamahotsavam programme. Special thanks to the forest department officials. As the Minister for Forests, this is a special opportunity for me. We aim to plant at least one crore saplings. The pledge taken by the students, 'Love Your Nature,' inspired me. Protecting the environment is crucial for everyone, especially for future generations. There is no future without environmental protection. Planting saplings is as important as protecting greenery, which shields us from scorching heat waves in the summer. I recommend reading the Japanese book 'Miamoki' to learn more about environmental conservation." (ANI)
