Flagging off of 23rd edition of Round Table Car Rally in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], Mar 3 (ANI): In a unique initiative, visually challenged persons were made to navigate sighted drivers here on Sunday as part of an awareness rally.
The 23rd edition of Round Table Car Rally was organised by Blind People’s Association (BPA), a voluntary organization that works for the social and economic rehabilitation of the blind and disabled people, to create public awareness about the potential of blind people.
To instill the feeling of leadership among the blind, they were made to navigate sighted drivers while reading out from Braille maps, hence creating an exceptional situation where the sighted drivers were entirely dependent on their visually impaired navigators to make their way through the course.
“I’m overwhelmed by the car rally conducted by this organization. People have always helped us but now it is our chance to guide them. With the help of the specific holdings on the Braille map, we were able to navigate the directions,” said Devrath Thakur, a participant in the rally.
As many as 70 cars participated in the car rally which was flagged off from the BPA campus. (ANI)
