Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday announced to give Rs 250 over and above their monthly dole of Rs 1,000 for beneficiaries under the CM Ladli Behna Yojana in poll-bound state as a ‘Rakhee’ gift.

Addressing a large gathering of women in Bhopal’s Jamburi Maidan on Sunday, Chouhan said, “Right this moment, in a single click I’ll be sending you Rs 250 for rakhi.”
While beneficiaries will receive the regular payout of Rs 1,000 on the 10th of next month, this amount will be increased to Rs 1,250 from October.
He also said that the state government will provide domestic gas cylinders for Rs 450 for the month of Sawan, and efforts would be made to provide gas cylinders at the same subsidised rate in the future as well.

In addition to this, he also announced that the beneficiaries of the LBY would not have to pay electricity bills with recently increased tariffs.
“Today we have decided that increased (electricity) bills will not be recovered... The increased bills will become zero in September and after that, arrangements will be made to ensure that the bill of poor women will come to Rs 100 every month..." Chouhan said.
He further announced to reserve 35 per cent of posts in police and other government jobs for women, and 50 per cent reservation for women in teaching posts.
“With these measures, and others such as paying education fees of beneficiaries, enabling women to secure bank loans with the government paying the interest, and reserving land for women in industrial areas to promote entrepreneurship,” Chouhan said.
He also said that if more than half of the population of women opposed the liquor shops in any specific area, liquor shops would not be opened in those areas.
The Madhya Pradesh government launched the Ladli Bahna Yojana on March 15 this year, aiming to empower daughters and women economically. So far, the scheme has successfully provided financial assistance to 1.25 crore eligible members, with payments released twice. (ANI)
