Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 19 (ANI): In a coordinated operation on Wednesday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended a drug peddler at Agartala Railway Station.
The suspect was found in possession of 41 kilograms of dried cannabis, which he had concealed in a trolley bag with the intention of transporting it from Agartala to Silchar by train.
According to officials, the arrest was made following a tip-off about the suspect's activities. Upon interception at the railway station, the authorities discovered a substantial quantity of cannabis, meticulously packed and ready for shipment.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Dey, 25, residing in Tabla Bari, Sonatala, Puran Bazar under Khowai Police Station in the Khowai district of Tripura, said officials.
The GRP has registered a case and started an intensive investigation of this matter.
According to officials, the suspect will be presented before the honorable court tomorrow. This seizure marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb the trafficking of narcotics in the region.
Such operations underscore the vigilance and dedication of the GRP and RPF in maintaining law and order, particularly in curbing drug-related activities. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing their crackdown on drug trafficking networks operating through the state.
