Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 27 (ANI): In a vibrant celebration of fitness, peace, and tourism, Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, flagged off a cycle rally and peace walk on Friday at the historic Ujjayanta Palace.
The event was organised to promote a healthy lifestyle, communal harmony, and sustainable transportation. A large number of local community members, leaders, and officials participated, emphasising the importance of peaceful coexistence.
The rally, which marked World Tourism Day, saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including the Minister of the Transport Department, Sushanta Choudhary, and the Director of the Transport Department.
Minister Choudhary expressed his support for initiatives that encourage the use of bicycles as an eco-friendly means of transportation. He also highlighted the event's focus on bringing people together for a shared cause--promoting health and unity within the community.
Participants cycled through scenic routes adorned with banners advocating for peace and environmental conservation, while the peace walk reinforced the message of harmony. The event concluded with an assembly at Ujjayanta Palace, where speeches underscored the need for collective efforts in fostering a peaceful and healthy society.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sushanta Choudhary emphasised the significance of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated globally. He mentioned the various programs organised by the Tripura government over the years and how this year's theme, "Peace," resonates strongly given the ongoing political unrest in various parts of the world.
The Minister also shared that Tripura has seen a decline in foreign tourists due to the unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh but remains hopeful that the challenges will be overcome. He urged both domestic and international tourists to explore Tripura, highlighting the state's rich historical sites, forests, rivers, and cultural heritage.
In a special evening event, the state will honour the unsung heroes who helped during recent floods. The event will feature a performance by renowned singer Sukanta Chatterjee from West Bengal and will be attended by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Additionally, Sourav Ganguly, the brand ambassador for Tripura tourism, has contributed relief efforts for flood-affected areas.
This cycle rally and peace walk set the tone for more community-focused events, aiming to unite residents for meaningful causes and promote Tripura as a must-visit destination for tourists from around the world. (ANI)
