Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], November 21 (ANI): The Administrative Officers Conference-2025 entered its second day in Dehradun on Friday, held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan.
During the conference, the District Magistrates of Almora, Pauri Garhwal, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Nainital, and Uttarkashi gave presentations on the Best Practices of their respective districts. The participating officers held extensive discussions on these initiatives.
The District Magistrate of Almora presented on Sports, Health, and Wellness. He said that a Sports and Community Fitness Zone has been developed to provide better sports facilities to young athletes in the state and to create opportunities for emerging talent. He also informed that 100 economically weaker (EWS) children are being provided free coaching, training, and other support.
The District Magistrate of Pauri made a presentation on Pine Needles and Invasive Biomass Livelihood.
He said that, with the help of women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), biomass is being prepared from pine needles, which is providing a regular source of income for women. Efforts are also being made to reduce forest fires and damage caused by wild animals.
Through women SHG members, 1,800 tonnes of lantana, pine needles, and other harmful species are being removed, with 280 women participating in the initiative.
The District Magistrate of Nainital delivered a presentation on Urban Infrastructure & Mobility, showcasing a goal-oriented and sustainable development roadmap for Nainital city. Taking note of this, the Chief Secretary directed all urban local bodies to prepare similar roadmaps.
The District Magistrate of Dehradun presented efforts for Child Beggary Prevention. He stated that a centre has been established in Dehradun for children engaged in begging, providing them with opportunities for education, recreation, and skill development. Such children are being identified and rehabilitated to help them exit the cycle of begging and become empowered.
The Municipal Commissioner of Dehradun Municipal Corporation also presented the model developed to address urban challenges in Dehradun.
The District Magistrate of Tehri Garhwal spoke on the Youth Approach in the district. He highlighted initiatives focused on self-employment and skill development to motivate youth toward productive activities. He proposed capsule courses, mobility support, career hubs, and flexible skilling pathways for the youth.
The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi presented details on the severe disaster that struck Dharali, the damage incurred, and the measures being taken to prevent such incidents in the future. He also presented a project on Ecology and Livelihood, which was appreciated.
The Chief Secretary commended the innovative models in Sports, Green Livelihood, and Youth Empowerment. He instructed all officers to further strengthen their district's best practices and align future plans with the vision of Developed Uttarakhand 2047.
The conference was attended by Principal Secretaries RK Sudhanshu, LL Fanai, and R Meenakshi Sundaram, along with other concerned officials. (ANI)
