ADGP Jamwal visits border areas in Eastern Ladakh; takes stock of border areas

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Head of Police Ladakh Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal visited the border areas in Eastern Ladakh and lauded the security personnel for their high spirits and commitment.

Leh (Ladakh) [India], August 30 (ANI): Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Head of Police Ladakh Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal visited the border areas in Eastern Ladakh and lauded the security personnel for their high spirits and commitment.
"This was my first visit to Eastern Ladakh. Approx 1.5 months back, I took over as Head of Police Ladakh. The police and senior formations two SSPs and others were there. Our main aim of the visit was to familiarise ourselves with the area and meet people. We examined their situation, and in what situation they are living. Took an overall view is the security setup as good and how we can strengthen the security. As this area is very tough" ADGP Jamwal said.
He further interacted with ITBP and Army personnel deployed at these locations and lauded the security personnel for their high spirits and commitment to duties in these extremely tough conditions.
"Overall my reading of that area is that our security forces are committed to duties in these extremely tough conditions. As the weather is very challenging in these areas," he said.
Meanwhile, he also went to martyrs' memorials paid tributes and laid wreaths at Murgo, BDO and remembered the supreme sacrifice made by security personnel while defending our motherland.
"We have also installed and placed Ashoka Stambh on behalf of Ladakh Police of UT Ladakh at Daulat Beig Olde (DBO) near the DBO Advance Landing ground memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs along with ITBP personnel deployed at the DBO sector," he said.
Meanwhile, he further said that while interacting with the jawans at these posts, we enquired about their family and other welfare measures and assured them to take up any personnel problems pertaining to policing and other administrative issues back home with respective States/ UTs government authorities.
"Ensured them to take up various welfare issues and matters with concerned authorities at the proper platform for better welfare and facilities at the border posts so that they could perform duties more effectively at the border areas," he said. 
On being asked about the relationship with the local people and police Jamwal said, "The lifestyle of the people is very difficult there and when we visited there and met them they were very excited and happy to meet us."
Recently, ADGP Ladakh inaugurated quarters for the accommodation of police personnel.
It is mentioned that Ladakh Police has been initiated to construct suitable and winter-friendly building infrastructure by incorporating passive solar technologies to facilitate better housing satisfaction of the police personnel on duty especially in remote harsh areas.
During the inauguration ceremony, ADGP Ladakh stated that "Ladakh Police has been working hard to raise various infrastructure and build the skills of Ladakh Police since its inception in 2019 so that police personnel can serve the public effectively."
"Intersected with the police personnel posted at Turtuk and Bogdang and reviewed their welfare and also asked police personnel to work sincerely and dedicatedly for the welfare of people, to maintain peace and order and national integrity/security in the border region," he added.
Ladakh Head of Police was accompanied by Stanzin Nurboo-JKPS, Sonam Dechen-JKPS, SSP, AIG (Provision), Inspector T Dorjey and Inspector Mutuup Tashi of Police Headquarters Ladakh, visited forward areas of Galwan, Murgo, Burtse, Chhongthas and Daulat Beig Olde (DBO) in Eastern Ladakh on August 26th, and 27th 2023.
