According to a post by BRS on 'X', KTR warned that the shortage is severely affecting hotels, eateries, hostels and small food businesses. The letter cautioned that thousands of establishments could be forced to shut down, while lakhs of workers and students may face serious hardship if the LPG supply is not restored immediately.

While backing the Centre's decision to invoke the Essential Commodities Act, KTR recommended freezing commercial cylinder prices for the duration of the "crisis" and having a public real-time availability dashboard.

A delegation of the association met with Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh on Wednesday amid the reported shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. The members requested that a portion of the supply be reallocated for commercial use to ensure kitchens across the city continue functioning smoothly.

KTR said the Congress party came to power by promising six guarantees to the people of the state, but has failed to honour those commitments.

Amid shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday called on the central government to take preemptive steps and provide clarity on how supply will be maintained during the ongoing West Asia crisis.
