ACP death case: Delhi Police recovers suicide note

New Delhi (India), Nov 29, (ANI): The Delhi Police on Thursday said that it has recovered the suicide note of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Prem Ballabh, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from the 10th floor of the Delhi Police Headquarters on Thursday morning.
The police said that they have recovered a note during the investigation which is said to be written by the deceased police official. According to police, the letter said that he was committing suicide and that no one else is responsible for his action.
"During the enquiry, certain documents including a handwritten note purportedly written by ACP Prem Ballabh have been recovered. He (ACP Ballabh) has clarified in the note that nobody is responsible for his death. However, further probe in the matter is still on," an official of Delhi Police said.
Earlier this day, suffering from depression, ACP Prem Ballabh committed suicide by jumping off from the window of his office located on the 10th floor of the Delhi Police Headquarters.
The deceased, 55-year-old, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Prem Ballabh was deployed in the Crime and Traffic (CNT) department in the Secretarial Branch of the Police Headquarters. He had a desk job.
According to Rajesh Khurana, https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gifJoint Commissioner of Delhi Police (JCP), the preliminary enquiry revealed that Ballabh reached his office desk at around 9.30 am in the CNT Department and started his system. At about 10.15 am he opened the window of his room and jumped off. He was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital where he was declared dead.
"We received information at around 10:15 in the morning that an officer has jumped off from the Headquarter building ...As per preliminary enquiry, it is ascertained that he was suffering from anxiety and depression. He was also admitted to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for the same," Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Rajesh Khurana said.
The police revealed that Prem Ballabh had joined office about 4-5 days back after one month leave. Investigations are on to ascertain whether he was under any stress due to professional or family reasons.
However, family members of Prem Ballabh said there was no reason for him to take such a step. While speaking to ANI, Hari Sharma, younger brother of the deceased ACP said: "Neither were there any disputes in the family nor was he under any stress."
Deceased ACP Ballabh was awarded Police Medal for meritorious service in the year 2016. (ANI)
