Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], November 18 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "popularity and strong leadership" after he received Nigeria's national award during his three-nation tour.
In a post on X on Sunday, CM Dhami called it a "proud moment" for India.
"Proud moment! The honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji has been awarded the national honour of Nigeria 'The Grand Commander of the Order of Niger' (GCON), which is a proud moment for all of us Indians," CM Dhami said.

"This achievement is proof of the popularity of the respected Prime Minister as well as his effective and strong international leadership. Global relations have received a new direction due to the farsightedness of Modiji," he added.
Nigeria honoured Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) during his visit there. This makes PM Modi the second foreign dignitary to receive this honour.
Queen Elizabeth was conferred with the award in 1969. This will be the 17th such international award conferred on PM Modi by a foreign country. PM Modi concluded his first visit to Nigeria on Sunday on the first leg of his three-nation tour.
Upon his arrival, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory in Abuja and was gifted with the 'Key to the City' of Abuja. The key symbolises the trust and honour bestowed on the PM by the people of Nigeria.
The visit by PM Modi is the first visit by a Prime Minister of India to Nigeria in 17 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emplaned for Brazil on Sunday evening as part of his three-nation tour to Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana scheduled from November 17 to November 21. (ANI)
