New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi on Tuesday spoke about the Poshan Tracker, which won the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration last year.
She said it is making the work of Anganwadi workers easier and more efficient in tracking nutrition for millions of beneficiaries.
Speaking to ANI, Annapurna Devi said, "The Poshan Tracker has received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2024, which is a proud moment for us. This award was given in the "Poshan Tracker Innovation' category. Through this tracker, we are able to reach around 10 crore beneficiaries and 14 lakh Anganwadi centres."
"Earlier, Anganwadi workers had to fill out about 11 registers by hand. Now, using this app on their mobile phones, they can easily enter real-time data. The app helps them know which homes to visit each day, making their work much easier and more efficient. This tracker brings transparency, improves the quality of work, and facilitates faster data recording. It's a big step towards building a well-nourished India, in line with the Prime Minister's vision," Devi further added.
She said that this app helps 14 lakh Anganwadi centres and can track the nutrition of 10 crore beneficiaries in real-time. It has made the work of Anganwadi workers easier, bringing transparency and improving quality.
She further said, "Even in remote areas, Anganwadi workers can use this app to collect data. It also supports growth monitoring of children, delivery of take-home rations, and tracking education at Anganwadi centres. The app includes video modules to help teach children and guide pregnant women on proper care. Overall, it ensures that important information reaches beneficiaries on time."
The Poshan Tracker app enables Anganwadi workers to collect data even in remote areas, supporting child growth monitoring, take-home ration delivery, and education tracking, while also providing guidance through video modules for childcare and pregnancy care.
"We are constantly improving the app to make it more helpful, and it is making the work of our Anganwadi workers much easier through the use of new technology," Devi said.
Mission Poshan 2.0 has made remarkable progress in tracking the growth of millions of young lives, through its Monthly Growth Monitoring initiative - Poshan Tracker, which is also a theme for this year, Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024, read the Ministry of Women and Child Development press release.
