Supreme Court

New Delhi [India], Aug 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday admitted an appeal filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the acquittal of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in connection with the murder of their daughter Aarushi and doemstic help Hemraj.
The Allahabad High Court had acquitted Aarushi's parents, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, in the case last year. Challenging the acquittal, the CBI moved the apex court on March 8 and appealed that the Allahabad High Court "in its judgment had erred on many fronts in the case."
Suspecting the Talwars' involvement in the murder, the police had named Rajesh for murdering Arushi and Hemraj alleging that he did so after finding them in an "objectionable" position. Following the trial, Special CBI Judge, S. Lal, pronounced Rajesh and Nupur Talwar guilty of conspiracy and murder.
Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, both doctors by profession, were released from jail in October 2017, after the High Court's acquittal on grounds of lack of evidence.
On May 16, 2008, Aarushi was found murdered at her residence in Noida with her throat slit. It was initially suspected that the house help Hemraj had killed Aarushi. However, the case took a turn when Hemraj's body too was recovered two days later from the terrace of the same flat. (ANI)
