Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 31 (ANI): Aarti was performed on Thursday at the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain on the occasion of Diwali.
Different parts of the country are decked up to celebrate Diwali. Known as the 'Festival of Lights', Diwali celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

As part of the Diwali celebration, the people of Panaji burnt the effigy of the demon Narakasura.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav extended his greetings to the people on Diwali.
In a post on X, he wrote, "Om Sri Hrim Srim Kamale Kamalalaye Prasid Prasid Srim Hrim Srim Om Mahalakshmi Namah. Happy Diwali, the festival of prosperity, joy, happiness and light."
"I pray that every house and courtyard of the state will be filled with wealth and grain, the grace of Maa Lakshmiji and Shri Ganeshji will remain, happiness, prosperity and prosperity will continue to grow," he added.
In Uttar Pradesh, this year's Deepotsav is especially significant, marking the first festival since the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Shri Ram Lalla at Ayodhya's temple.
On Wednesday, a laser and light show illuminated Saryu Ghat, with diyas and colourful lights enhancing the beauty of the riverbank. A highlight of the event was the narration of Ram Leela, presented through a captivating sound and light display.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali and wished everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous life.
"Many happy wishes to the countrymen on Deepawali. On this divine festival of lights, I wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous life. May everyone prosper with the blessings of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Shri Ganesha," PM Modi said on X.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Diwali, the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple is set to be illuminated with 10,000 diyas in Gujarat's capital city, Gandhinagar, as part of Diwali celebrations.
A 55-foot idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan will also be installed on Diwali, and its Pranpratishtha ceremony will be held on November 11. (ANI)
