Phagwara (Punjab) [India], October 4 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP, Ashok Mittal, has expressed his delight at hosting former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who has moved into his bungalow at 5, Ferozshah Road, Delhi.
Mittal had extended an invitation for Kejriwal to stay as his guest following the latter's resignation as CM on September 17, after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
In an interview with ANI, Mittal shared his excitement, saying, "When I learned that Kejriwal did not have a residence after stepping down, I immediately invited him to stay at my Delhi home. Several other party leaders and workers had also extended similar invitations, but I am delighted he chose my home."
Mittal described Kejriwal's stay as a valuable opportunity to learn from the former CM, calling it a special moment for him as both an AAP worker and MP. He expressed confidence in Kejriwal's future success, stating, "I believe that in the upcoming Delhi elections, the public will support him again, and he will return as CM with a decisive mandate."
AAP confirmed Kejriwal's temporary stay at Mittal's residence while he searches for a new home, preferably in New Delhi, to remain close to his constituency. The party revealed that Kejriwal is keen to find a dispute-free property.
Kejriwal resigned as Delhi CM on September 17, submitting his resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. He stated that he would return to the position only if he earns a fresh mandate and the "certificate of honesty" from the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly elections, expected in February 2025.
