Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 6 (ANI): The Airport authority of India has allocated 1200 crores, spread over 12 years, for establishing Research and Development infrastructure, procurement of tools, skill development and knowledge transfer which will benefit Civil Aviation in a major way, informed Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu.
Prabhu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Civil Aviation Research Organization (CARO) at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad.
CARO will cater to Air Navigation Systems (ANS) and Airport Engineering research to keep in pace with the exponential growth in Air Traffic in India.
Speaking at the event, Union Minster Prabhu said, " Everyone is a passenger today or an aspiring passenger. It would be our mission to make sure that air travel will be accessible and affordable and then it should be comfortable. We will try to match all the three elements of aviation into one and we are working on it."
Prabhu also addressed the issue of lack of space for infrastructure and development.
He said that there is a need for scientific research for development in the aviation.
Prabhu said, "The first order I issued as Minister of Civil Aviation was to prepare a comprehensive plan for the aviation sector with a vision for 2035," adding "While we need to deal with day to day problems along with action taken on it, we should also have a clear roadmap at the same time."
The aviation sector is witnessing 30 percent growth rate and talking about it, Prabhu said, " The research organisations should focus on the safety and convenience of passengers." (ANI)
