Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb 6 (ANI): A mahant from Ayodhya has sat on a fast demanding construction of a Ram Lalla university at the undisputed land around Ram Janam Bhoomi and making Ram Charitra Manas mandatory in all educational curricula.
"If there is some Constitutional hindrance in the construction of Ram Temple, we want to propose an option to the government," Swami Paramhans Das of Ayodhya's Tapaswi Chhawni told ANI on Wednesday.
He had earlier staged a similar demonstration in October 2018 but was arrested on the seventh day.
Several saints, seers and people have been demanding early construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya. A group of saints said on January 30 that construction of the temple will start on February 21.
"If Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignores such demands, then we will know that the BJP is using the issue to gain votes in general elections," said Das.
On January 29, the Centre approached the Supreme Court for permission to restore the "excess" land surrounding the disputed portion in Ayodhya to Ram Janambhoomi Nyas. (ANI)
