65.68 pc polling in phase 3 of Lok Sabha elections, says EC

New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): The third phase of polling for Lok Sabha polls on May 7 in 93 constituencies saw a voter turnout of 65.68 per cent, Election Commission said on Saturday.
It said 66.89 per cent of men voters, 64.41 per cent of women voters, and 25.2 per cent of third-gender individuals exercised their franchise.
Assam recorded the highest voter turnout, with a total voter turnout of 85.45 per cent. Goa recorded the second-highest voter turnout at 76.06 per cent.
Bihar and Uttar Pradesh recorded relatively low voter turnout at 59.15 and 57.55 per cent respectively.
The poll panel said that repoll at two polling stations in Bihar and four polling stations in Madhya Pradesh in phase-3 has also been concluded.
It said copy of Form 17C has also been provided for every polling station in a constituency to candidates though their polling agents.
"Actual data of Form 17 C shall prevail which is already shared with candidates. Final turnout will only be available post-counting with counting of postal ballots and its addition to total vote count," an Election Commission release said.
It said postal ballots include those given to service voters, absentee voters (85+, PwD, Essential Services etc) and voters on election duty.
Daily account of such postal ballots received, as per statutory provisions, are given to all candidates.
The poll panel also gave parliamentary constituency-wise details of registered electors for 96 PCs going for polls in phase 4 on May 13.
The third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha election in 2024 was held in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories. A total of 1331 candidates, including around 120 women, were in the electoral fray in this phase.
A total of 17.24 crore voters were eligible to cast their franchise in the third phase,1.85 lakh polling stations were set up.
During the third phase of the Lok Sabha election, at least 75 international delegates from 23 countries visited many polling stations in six states to witness the polling process. The delegates also witnessed the process of dispatching polling materials and machines to the polling teams and were appreciative of the magnitude, transparency and, most importantly, the festive mood of voters, the ECI said.
According to the poll body, in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, the voter turnout was recorded at 66.14 per cent and 66.71 per cent in the second phase. Voting for the first phase was held on April 19 and the second phase on April 26.
The poll panel further said that the male turnout in the first leg stood at 66.22 per cent, female at 66.07 per cent and third-gender (31.32 per cent). The figures for the second phase were 66.99 per cent (male), 66.42 per cent (female), and 23.86 per cent (third-gender), respectively.
Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1 and the counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
