61 people rescued by Coast Guard Air Enclave over two days in Porbandar

A total of 61 people have been rescued so far, including 15 females and 11 children, over the course of two days by the Coast Guard Air Enclave of Porbandar amid the unprecedented rainfall and floods that lashed the state.

Porbandar (Gujarat) [India], August 29 (ANI): A total of 61 people have been rescued so far, including 15 females and 11 children, over the course of two days by the Coast Guard Air Enclave of Porbandar amid the unprecedented rainfall and floods that lashed the state.
The rescue operations took place in different talukas of Porbandar and Dwarka districts, where they rescued the 61 people.
Additionally, the enclave has also rescued four fishermen from the Okha region over the course of these two-day operations.
On the first day of the operation, the Coast Guard helicopter rescued 33 individuals from the perilous situation amid treacherous windy conditions and low visibility.
On day two, the Indian Coast Guard continued its efforts, rescuing another 28 individuals, bringing the total number of lives saved to 61.
In another incident, the National Disaster Response Force HAD rescued 22 people on Thursday who were trapped in the flood water in Chachlana village of Kalyanpur tehsil for the past three.
The state of Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rain for the past few days, leading to parts of Gujarat being inundated and displacing hundreds of residents to safer locations due to severe floods.
Earlier today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall. A heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Swarka and Kutch districts. (ANI)
