60 Pak Hindu migrants get Indian citizenship, 600-700 more to get: Chhattisgarh CM

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India] October 26(ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday said the state government has given clearance to 60 Pakistani Hindu migrants, remaining 600-700 will be given the citizenship soon.

"This is the first time that the state government has been given authority by the government of India. Today we have given clearance to 70 people and remaining 600-700 will get their clearance soon," said Raman Singh, while addressing the media here.

Sympathising over the misery of migrants, he said, "It is right from a way that after waiting for 30-40 years people finally got the citizenship of India. These people ran from Sindh after being treated badly, from where they got suffering. People who faced oppression and were afraid of Pakistan have got respect today."

"Initially we have sent for the registration of 600 people, out of which registration of 60-70 people have been cleared. Soon we will finish this entire procedure," he added.

Hindus from Pakistan have faced religious persecution and therefore they took shelter in India, after the government decided to make Indian citizenship hassle-free for them. (ANI)
