4.5 magnitude quake jolts Nicobar Islands

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale struck Sikar in Rajasthan on Saturday morning, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.

A series of earthquakes and tremors have caused panic in Sikkim during late February 2026, with multiple jolts reported on Thursday and early morning of Friday.

On the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has constituted a 14-member high-level committee to review and revise the existing by-laws.

A Pawan Hans spokesperson said, "The helicopter has taken off from Port Blair with 2 crew members and 5 passengers. All are rescued and are safe. No injuries reported to any of the rescued persons."

In a post on X, Thackeray wrote, "while all the sweet talking, formal MoUs and government chatter can happen at the @Mumbai_Climate, where global agencies and partners have been invited".
