New Delhi [India], November 9 (ANI): Delhi Police have apprehended three juveniles involved in the murder of 22-year-old Nadeem alias Bobby and a subsequent firing incident in the area of Jyoti Nagar and Welcome in North East Delhi. The trio was apprehended within hours of the incidents, which occurred on Saturday.
According to Delhi Police, at around 1:39 AM on November 9, they received a PCR call about a firing at Kabir Nagar in New Delhi. The victim, Nadeem alias Bobby, was travelling with his friends Aman and Shanwaz on a scooter when three assailants on a motorcycle shot at them. Nadeem was hit and later declared dead at GTB Hospital, while Shanwaz sustained a bullet injury to his right leg and is undergoing treatment. The assailants stole Nadeem's scooter and left their bike at the scene. A case was registered at PS Welcome under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.
Speaking to ANI, Zeeshan, a relative of Nadeem, said, "My cousin brother Nadeem had gone to get food with his friend Shahnawaz and as he was returning, some boys fired at him and attacked him with a knife, due to which he died on the spot. Shahnawaz has also been shot and is admitted in the hospital. Nadeem used to work in a jeans printing outfit. Nadeem did not have any enmity with anyone. We don't understand why he was shot, but we want crimes like this to stop. Nowadays, criminals commit crimes with the help of minors."
Minutes after the murder, another firing incident was reported at PS Jyoti Nagar. The complainant, Rahul, a 24-year-old resident of New Kardampuri, told the police that at 1:26 AM, three persons on a scooter fired shots at his house. Six empty cartridges and one live cartridge were found at the scene. A second case was registered under the Arms Act and related sections.
Rahul's mother, Urmila, also spoke to ANI, and said, "When we were sleeping around 1:30 AM, we heard the sound of a gunshot. When we came out, some boys were running away and six bullets had been fired at our house. The shells are with the police. I have two sons; the elder son (Rahul) is in the milk business, and about a month ago, he was shot. A person from the same area got the firing done on him. I don't know what the fight was about."
The police found that the descriptions of the assailants in both incidents were similar. Based on intelligence gathered from multiple sources, the police identified the suspects and raided several locations. Within hours, they arrested three juveniles, aged between 16 and 17 years, and recovered two semi-automatic pistols with five live cartridges and a country-made pistol with one live cartridge.
Upon interrogation, the juveniles admitted their involvement in both incidents. They revealed that in the case of PS Welcome, they had borrowed money from Nadeem but were repeatedly threatened by him for further payments, which led them to kill him. In the case of the Jyoti Nagar firing, they stated that the attack was carried out under the instructions of a local criminal. The reasons for the attack are still under investigation.
Further inquiries are underway to determine the juveniles' involvement in other crimes and the sources of the weapons used. (ANI)
