3 held with 134 kg cannabis in Vijayawada

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 26 (ANI): A team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Tuesday apprehended three people and seized a vehicle in which they were carrying 134 kg of cannabis, amounting to over Rs 26 lakh.

According to police, the cannabis was loaded into the vehicle at Saparla village and was destined to reach Madurai.

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 26 (ANI): A team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Tuesday apprehended three people and seized a vehicle in which they were carrying 134 kg of cannabis, amounting to over Rs 26 lakh.  
Based on specific intelligence input, DRI officials launched a search operation at the National Highway-26 to seize the vehicle carrying cannabis.
A vehicle en-route Madurai carrying a load of fly ash was stopped by the officials. On suspicion, all 65 fly ash bricks were broken only to recover 65 packets of cannabis, a listed narcotic drug.
According to police, the cannabis was loaded into the vehicle at Saparla village and was destined to reach Madurai.
The narcotic drug has been seized under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. A case has also been registered against the three accused. Further investigation in this regard is underway. (ANI)
