2G case: Special CBI Court defers hearing to Dec.5

New Delhi [India], Nov. 7 (ANI): A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here on Tuesday adjourned hearing of the 2G spectrum case to December 5.

The case that has high -profile names like former telecom minister A. Raja, DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi and others was deferred by CBI Special Judge O.P. Saini on grounds that the judgement is not ready as documents filed in connection with the case are voluminous and technical in nature, and still under perusal.

Saini further said coming out with a judgement on the case might take more than three weeks. The court said it might decide the date of judgement on December 5.

Meanwhile, the court also issued a fresh production warrant against Unitech Managing Director Sanjay Chandra and Bollywood producer Karim Morani.

Saini has been exclusively dealing with cases arising out of the 2G spectrum scam.

Two cases have been filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and a third by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

In its charge sheet filed against former telecom minister A. Raja, DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi and others in 2011, the CBI had alleged that there was a loss of Rs. 30,984 crore in the allocation of 122 licenses for 2G spectrum.

In April 2014, the ED filed a charge sheet against 19 people, including Raja and Kanimozhi in connection with a money laundering case relating to the scam. (ANI)
