Pune (Maharashtra) [India], Sep 21 (ANI): A minor girl died in Pune on Wednesday after she and her friend were allegedly raped by two men.
The incident took place in Pune's Hinjewadi area on September 16. The girls were playing in the vicinity when the two men lured them with chocolates into a forest and raped them. Both the girls simultaneously fell sick after the incident.
The police have arrested both the accused. Meanwhile, the other victim is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
One of the two accused was produced before the court today and has been sent to police custody till September 25. However, the other accused, who is a juvenile, will go through the juvenile process accordingly.
The girl, who passed away last night, slipped into coma before she died. She was brought to the hospital on Tuesday. The other girl is stable. The parents of both the girls are labourers.
It is to be noted that the two accused also lived in the nearby locality, and were acquaintances. The accused juvenile is in the 11th grade, while the other one, who is 22-year-old, is a second-year student in college.
Speaking on the matter, Police Inspector of Hinjewadi Police Station, Shivaji Gaware said that the girls were very scared and, therefore, they didn't inform anyone about the incident.
"We received the information late night, and immediately sent an officer to the hospital. The girl was very scared, even her mother also didn't know what happened. This morning, after much cajoling, the girl told us that both of them were raped by two men who lured them with chocolates."
Further talking about the accused, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shreedhar Jadhav said, "The families of the accused worked in a factory, and they do not have any prior criminal record. The girls were playing near a temple when the accused offered them chocolates. The men have offered them chocolates once earlier also." (ANI)
