2 dead, 18 injured after jeep turns turtle in Himachal

Tourism Ambassador to the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Miss Earth India 2022 Vanshika Parmar said that while global uncertainties and tensions in parts of the Middle East may create concerns within the tourism industry, Himachal Pradesh continues to remain a safe and attractive destination for travellers from across the world.

As per an official release, he announced that a modern cancer hospital, along with nursing and dental colleges, will be developed at the Hamirpur Medical College complex. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs. 1000 crore. He stated that the establishment of the medical college would ensure that quality healthcare services were made available to people closer to their homes.

Emphasising the state government's commitment to promote the tourism sector, the Chief Minister said that expansion of connectivity and infrastructure was being given added priority to enhance facilities for visitors. He added that the growth of tourism would strengthen the state's economy and generate employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth, according to a release.

Himachal CM said that in 2025-26, the state government has already secured (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) approval for 73 projects worth Rs. 713.87 crore. Of these, 55 MLA priority projects, totalling Rs. 512.31 crore, were related to the Public Works Department, while 18 projects, totalling Rs. 201.56 crore, pertain to the Jal Shakti Department. The Chief Minister directed that the allocated budget be fully utilised and that reimbursement claims be submitted to the NABARD office before 15 March, 2026.

As per a release, in the first three phases of the survey, a total of 59,829 BPL families have been included in the BPL list across the State. District-wise, 2204 families have been notified in Bilaspur, 13786 in Chamba, 3480 in Hamirpur, 10807 in Kangra, 1109 in Kinnaur, 2957 in Kullu, 206 in Lahaul-Spiti, 12045 in Mandi, 4522 in Shimla, 1277 in Sirmaur, 1567 in Solan and 5869 families in Una district.
