Delhi High Court

New Delhi [India], Oct 29 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notification seeking a response from the Delhi government on why they failed to implement the notification issued by the Centre regarding the incentives to be granted to the kin of victims of the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, in a notification dated January 1, 2006, had directed the Delhi government to conduct recruitment drives, provide jobs and relax the age limit for the kin of Anti-Sikh riot victims.
The High Court order came after the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) moved the Delhi Court claiming that despite the notification, the government failed to provide the mentioned facilities.
While hearing the petition, the Court asked why the facilities were not provided despite the passage of so many years.
Senior advocate APS Ahluwalia and advocate Harpreet Singh Hora argued on behalf of the DSGMC and apprised the Court that despite receiving applications, the state failed to implement the measures and provide jobs to the kin of riot victims.
The next date of hearing in the matter has been fixed as February 4, 2019. (ANI)
