18 child labourers rescued from Delhi jute factory; Case registered against 9 persons

In a major rescue operation, in coordination with Seelampur SDM, Department Of Labour, Revenue Department and 'NGO Sahyog- Care For You', 18 children between the age group of 11-17 years have been rescued. They were employed in a jute bag manufacturing factory and printing work in the area of Gamri Village, Bhajanpura in the national capital, said officials.

New Delhi [India], August 6 (ANI): In a major rescue operation, the Delhi Police in coordination with an NGO rescued a total of 18 children aged between 11and 17 years who were employed in a jute bag manufacturing factory in Gamri village of the national capital's Bhajanpura, officials said Tuesday.
The rescue operation was conducted on August 5 and action has been initiated against nine persons identified as Aslat, Rajkumar, Vicky, Pintu, Sarvesh, Aehsan, Satender, Ansari and Sahil Dabas who had allegedly employed the children.
Delhi Police acted in coordination with Seelampur Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM), Department Of Labour, Revenue Department and 'NGO Sahyog- Care For You'.
They were employed in a jute bag manufacturing factory and printing work in the area of Gamri Village, Bhajanpura in the national capital, said officials.
Most of the children rescued from the jute bag manufacturing and printing work facilty belonged to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand, said officials.
A case has been registered under the Care and Protection of Children Act and Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act in Bhajanpura police station.
All the children will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee, North-East, Sanskar Ashram Complex, Dilshad Garden.
Further investigation of the case is in progress. (ANI)
