"149 people are receiving treatment," says DM Shivam Verma on Indore's water contamination crisis

"Yesterday, we surveyed more than 5000 homes, and mild symptoms like vomiting were reported in 65 people, of whom 17 were admitted. A total of 149 people are receiving treatment at the hospital...We are ensuring that proper treatment is being provided to them," Shivam Verma said.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 4 (ANI): Indore District Magistrate Shivam Verma on Sunday said that a total of 149 people are receiving treatment at the hospital due to the contaminated water in the Bhagirathpura area.
Verma added that mild symptoms, including vomiting, were reported in 65 people, of whom 17 were admitted after authorities surveyed more than 5,000 homes in the affected area.
"Yesterday, we surveyed more than 5000 homes, and mild symptoms like vomiting were reported in 65 people, of whom 17 were admitted. A total of 149 people are receiving treatment at the hospital...We are ensuring that proper treatment is being provided to them," Shivam Verma said.
The District Magistrate further stated that authorities are conducting water sampling and testing, as well as cleaning the water chambers in the Bhagirathpura area to prevent further health risks.
"The teams in the Bhagirathpura area are carrying out the survey, and the water is being provided through the tankers. The sampling, testing, and chambers are being cleaned...We are advising the public to drink boiled water," he added.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the families of the deceased and free treatment to all the affected people. He also announced strict action against those responsible and named two officials in the case.
Meanwhile, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav announced that a water supply survey would be conducted throughout the city for the next seven days and any complaints about leaks would be addressed within 48 hours.
"The team is continuously working in Bhagirathpura to ensure that people receive clean water regularly. The entire staff and team of the Indore Municipal Corporation are working among the people. Any complaints or requests are being addressed immediately. Under the direction of the Chief Minister, a survey regarding water supply will be conducted throughout Indore over the next seven days. Any complaints or information about leaks will be addressed within 48 hours," Bhargav told ANI. (ANI)
