12 detained after stone-pelting during religious procession in Rajasthan; BJP MP, Home Minister respond

About 12 suspects had been detained by the police in connection with the stone pelting incident that took place during a religious procession in the Jahazpur area of Rajasthan's Shahpura on Saturday, as per BJP MP Damodar Agarwal.

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], September 15 (ANI): Around 12 suspects were detained by the police in connection with a stone-pelting incident that occurred during a religious procession in the Jahazpur area of Rajasthan's Shahpura on Saturday, according to BJP MP Damodar Agarwal.
Speaking to ANI on Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP from Bhilwara stated that the incident took place during the Bewan Yatra on Jaljuli Ekadashi, following which protests erupted within the Hindu community. However, the protests subsided after prompt action was taken by the police.
"Yesterday, there was stone pelting on the Bewan Yatra during Jaljuli Ekadashi. The Hindu community was angered by this. There were protests, but the police acted immediately. Additional forces arrived, and drone footage was used to identify and detain the miscreants. Around 12 suspects were detained by the police," he said.
The BJP MP further noted that the situation was tense, but the District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) acted swiftly to bring it under control.
"From 4 pm yesterday until late into the night, the administration was in constant contact with protest leaders. While the situation remains tense, the Collector and SP have taken swift action to maintain control. The Chief Minister and police authorities are monitoring the situation closely from Jaipur," Agarwal added.
Speaking on the same issue, Rajasthan's Minister of State for Home, Jawahar Singh Bedam, said an investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

The incident took place during the Jaljhulani Ekadashi annual fair on Saturday, which was held on Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Ekadashi at the Charbhujanath temple, one of the Char Dhams of Mewar.
Saturday marked the final day of the three-day Lakkhi fair. A child form of the Lord was seated in a golden palanquin and brought to Dudhtalai, where it received a royal bath in the presence of devotees.
Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is also known as Parivartini Ekadashi, when people worship the Vamana incarnation of Lord Vishnu and Lord Ganesha. (ANI)
