New Delhi [India], Jan 28 (ANI): A record-high 1.1 million tweets were recorded on Friday, on account of the 69th Republic Day celebrations in the national capital, a report revealed.

New Delhi [India], Jan 28 (ANI): A record-high 1.1 million tweets were recorded on Friday, on account of the 69th Republic Day celebrations in the national capital, a report revealed.

According to a statement from a social media company on twitter, over 1.1 million tweets were generated this year amid celebrations, thus surpassing last year’s figures of 900,000 tweets.

Furthermore, the Republic Day hashtag was trending on number one worldwide throughout the day, the report stated.

This year’s celebrations were an important one, as it witnessed leaders of 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries - Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, Laos and Brunei as chief guests at the parade, for the first time.

The main function of the day was organised here at Rajpath, where President Ram Nath Kovind took the salute of the parade.

The tableaux of fourteen states and nine Central Ministries participated in the parade, showcasing varied themes.
