112 Wuhan evacuees at ITBP's Chhawla facility test negative for coronavirus

New Delhi [India], Mar 1 (ANI): All 112 evacuees from the central Chinese city of Wuhan, housed at ITBP Chhawla Quarantine Facility, have tested negative for the coronavirus, according to officials.

New Delhi [India], Mar 1 (ANI): All 112 evacuees from the central Chinese city of Wuhan, housed at ITBP Chhawla Quarantine Facility, have tested negative for the coronavirus, according to officials.
First blood samples from the latest batch of evacuees who arrived from Wuhan, the epicentre of the deadly virus outbreak that has killed more than 2900 people worldwide-- were collected at ITBP Chhawla Quarantine Facility in the national capital on Friday and were then sent to AIIMS for further testing.
The latest batch includes 80 males, 32 females, and five children. Among the total, 76 of them are Indians while the other 36 are foreign nationals.
The group of foreign nationals includes 23 people from Bangladesh, six from China, two each from Myanmar and Maldives, and one from Madagascar, one from South Africa and another one from the US.
All the people have been provided with the basic facilities at the quarantine centre. Daily monitoring and checkups are also undertaken by the ITBP medicos.
No one has been tested with any coronavirus symptoms so far at the centre, officials said.
The expected quarantine period is 14 days. The second sampling will be done on the 14th day of the quarantine period. If the tests result negative once again, then all 112 persons will be dispatched from the centre.
Emergency arrangements have also been catered at the centre including isolation beds and ambulances.
Today is the 5th day of quarantine. All these inmates were brought to the ITBP Centre on February 27. (ANI)
