11 Maoists arrested by DRG

Japan Embassy's Minister for Political Affairs, Abe Noriaki, paid a courtesy call on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Chief Minister's office in Vidhan Sabha premises on Monday.

Speaking in Hyderabad during a surrender programme where 130 Maoists laid down arms, Reddy said the government believes change can be achieved through democratic means rather than violence.

"Why don't you protest when atrocities are committed against tribals? Why don't you protest when it happens in Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh? First, do something for them, then say anything. Don't play politics at the time of the election, as per the BJP's advice," Banerjee said.

"130 cadres of the CPI (Maoist) party surrendered today. They handed over 124 weapons to the police, including INSAS and AK-47 rifles. All these weapons were looted from the police force. This is a major success for the government and the Telangana Police Force," Reddy said.

As many as 130 Maoists surrendered along with 124 sophisticated weapons before the government in the presence of the Chief Minister at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said that Nitish Kumar is "defeated" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Bihar CM filed his Rajya Sabha nomination.

Singhvi has been re-nominated as the party's Rajya Sabha candidate from Telangana, along with Narender Reddy. Meanwhile, Anurag Sharma, Phulo Devi Netam, Karamvir Boudh and Christopher Tilak have been fielded from Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Tamil Nadu, respectively.

The list includes senior sitting Rajya Sabha MP and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Advisor to the Telangana Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, Phulo Devi Netam, Karamvir Singh Boudh, Anurag Sharma, and M Christopher Tilak.
