Congress rubbishes report of putting RSS chief Bhagwat's name in terror list
New Delhi [India], July 15 (ANI): The Congress on Saturday dismissed reports that stated that the erstwhile party led-United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government was trying to include Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's name in the list of terrorists. Dubbing the reports as "completely untrue", Congress leader Salman Khurshid said that disclosing such selective pieces of information, there is an attempt to create a provocative atmosphere in the country. "As far as I know this is completely untrue. It is completely unfounded. Whatever a government is required to do, to protect and to preserve the sovereignty and safety of the country, every government does and I am sure that our government did the same," Khurshid told ANI. "However, who is it that giving out selective bits of information and trying to create provocative atmosphere in the country, I think that's the question which needs to be investigated," he added. According to a report by an English news channel, the UPA Government, in its last days in power, wanted to include Bhagwat's name in the list of terrorists. It claimed that the Congress-led UPA Government wanted to trap Mohan Bhagwat and declare him a "Hindu terrorist" after the Ajmer Dargah and Malegaon blast. It reported that former Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was putting pressure on the National Investigate Agency (NIA) to interrogate the RSS chief for his alleged role in the blast case. However, the case was closed by the NIA as no further progress was made in the court. (ANI)
