Voting for AAP a mistake, would mean promoting Akali goons: Navjot Kaur Sidhu
New Delhi [India], Nov. 29 (ANI): Asserting that the Congress is the only party which can give Punjab a stable government, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who joined the Indian National Congress on Monday, said that voting for the Aam Aadmi Party would be a mistake and would mean promoting the Akali goons. "Akali government has led to many governance issues in Punjab, while the Bharatiya Janata Party has only become a puppet with no voice in the state," said Sidhu. Targeting AAP for their lack of leadership in Punjab, Sidhu said that she promoted AAP in pursuit of an ideal platform where intellectual and honest people would come together for the betterment of Punjab. However, it turned out to be the East India Company which wanted to govern Punjab sitting in Delhi. "Where is the AAP leadership in Punjab? Who is their CM candidate? Everything is decided in Delhi, including the decision on ticket allocations. In fact, they have been selling tickets. Who will save Punjab in such a situation? New faces, possibly commoners who have no knowledge about the constitution, have been chosen. Is it so simple to run a government that inexperienced and corrupt people will be elected?" questioned Sidhu. The former BJP MLA from Amritsar (East) constituency further alleged that AAP has been making false promises and has been fooling the people of Punjab even before the elections. "They will curb the drug menace in Punjab within 25 days while their government has failed to curb the drug menace in the capital," Sidhu concluded. Navjot Kaur Sidhu resigned from the BJP in October, less than a month after her husband, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu quit the BJP calling it a dictatorship. Sidhu recently launched a new political party, Awaz-e-Punjab, wherein he asked the like-minded people who want to work for Punjab's interest to come together to defeat the forces which have ruined the state. Elections to the Punjab assembly are likely to be held early next year.(ANI)
