New Delhi [India], Apr. 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday told a group of Other Backward Classes (OBC) Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to work for empowering the OBC community on the lines of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". The BJP's 80 OBC MPs felicitated the Prime Minister in a small function in the Parliament premises and thanked him for according constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBCs). BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Bhupender Yadav told mediapersons that constitutional status to the NCBC will give power to the OBCs, who are educationally and economically backward. He said that Prime Minister Modi told the OBC MPs to work toward empowering other backward classes on the lines of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". Another OBC MP Ganesh Singh, who represents Satna in Lok Sabha, said, "The decision to accord constitutional status to the NCBC is a historic step taken by the Modi government as it was being demanded since 1993." He said the OBCs have worked a lot, adding the complaints of this section of the society were never addressed. (ANI)
