Parrikar undermining army's efforts by crediting PM for surgical strikes: AAP
New Delhi, Oct.12 (ANI): With Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar stating that a major share of the credit for the surgical strikes goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday asserted that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre was undermining the Indian Army's efforts by doing so. Convenor of the AAP's Delhi unit, Dilip Pandey, said that the BJP has stooped down to new low for electoral gains. "Every day one or the other BJP leader comes out with a statement on surgical strikes in which they try to suppress the efforts of the Indian Army in the operation. They say that the chivalry was of the Indian Army but the willpower was of the Prime Minister," he said. The AAP leader took a jibe at the BJP, saying it was not the first time that the saffron party was trying to do so and cash in the sentiments of the people. "In Bihar elections, they came out with the cow posters and now as the UP elections are near, they are misusing the army's power. This has been the BJP's glorious history and Parrikar sahab is not aware of this. Had he been aware then he wouldn't have said so," Pandey said. The Defence Minister earlier in the day said that he would only share the credit of the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army with Prime Minister Modi and added that the major share of the success goes to the latter for apt decision making and planning. "I will only share the credit, major share goes to the Prime Minister. This should settle the nerves of many people," he said. (ANI)
