Mulayam to campaign for SP-Congress alliance from Tuesday
New Delhi [India], Feb.6 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav today said he will campaign for the alliance between his party and the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. He was talking to media outside Parliament. It may be recalled that nearly a week ago he had expressed his objection to and displeasure over the tie-up and said he wouldn't canvass for the combine. Dismissing reports of intra-party differences after the sidelining of his brother Shivpal Yadav, Mulayam said, "There is no bickering... Akhilesh will be the next chief minister... I will campaign (for the alliance) from tomorrow." He further said, "No one is unhappy...he (Shivpal) has not spoken to me or anyone in the party. He may have said out of anger...now leave it, there will be no new party." It may be recalled that Shivpal had said that he would seriously consider floating a rival party to the Samajwadi Party after the results of the polls in Uttar Pradesh are declared. The Samajwadi Party and Congress have forged a pre-poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh contesting 298 and 105 seats respectively. Uttar Pradesh goes to polls in seven phases from February 11. Results will be declared on March 11. (ANI)
