Human rights of youth tied to jeep has been violated: Omar Abdullah
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Apr. 14 (ANI): Dubbing the incident captured in a video showing a youth tied allegedly to an Army jeep as a human shield against stone-pelting as 'unfortunate', National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Friday said that the former's human rights have been violated. "This is unfortunate. An inquiry should be conducted at the earliest. His human rights have been violated," Omar Abdullah told ANI. The video was reportedly shot in Beerwah area of Budgam district where the miscreants disrupted polling during Sunday's by-poll to Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency by pelting stones. In the video, it shows a young man tied to an Army jeep and it is moving in front of a convoy of vehicles. "The contents of the video are being verified and investigated," a defence spokesman said in Srinagar. The video is being widely shared on social networks in Kashmir and is drawing condemnation. The video has caused outrage with former chief minister Omar Abdullah demanding a probe into the incident. (ANI)
