Congress hopes Modi regime takes lessons from Nehru's foreign policy
Gulbarga (Karnataka), Oct. 12 (ANI): Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Wednesday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been advocating for knowledge and not war, follows the footsteps of the country's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru when it comes to dealing with foreign policy as the latter also believed in the preachings of Buddha.

Gulbarga (Karnataka), Oct. 12 (ANI): Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Wednesday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been advocating for knowledge and not war, follows the footsteps of the country's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru when it comes to dealing with foreign policy as the latter also believed in the preachings of Buddha. "He (Prime Minister) said that this country and the world need no fights but requires Buddha's philosophy. I want to remind that Jawaharlal Nehru preached the path of Buddha as he practiced it throughout his life and he also tried to make peace in Asia," Kharge told ANI. "It is good to know people are remembering Ramayan, Mahabharat, Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi ji and I hope by remembering Nehru ji, his foreign policy will also be remembered and followed," he added. Prime Minister Modi yesterday likened the war on terror to killing of demon king Ravana. "This is a land of buddh (knowledge) and not yudh (war). We must resolve to get freedom from these. Buddha's way or path should remain our ultimate destination," he said in his speech at the historic Ramlila function at Lucknow's Aishbagh Maidan. (ANI)
