BJP leaders allege misuse of Govt. funds by AAP
New Delhi [India], Apr. 1 (ANI): Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misusing taxpayers' money, the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that the former has been using Government resources for their 'personal expenses'. Speaking to ANI here on Friday, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi lashed out at the AAP, stating that the party has spent public money on promoting its own agenda, rather than spending it on developmental activities in Delhi. "It is important for AAP to understand the difference between personal and Government expenses. Money has been spent on states where they have not formed the Government. This is illegal. Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer for this," said Lekhi. Echoing a similar opinion with regards to violation of the Supreme Court's guidelines, BJP's Vijendra Gupta claimed that the party needs to pay the designated penalty as per the instructions received on behalf of the apex court. Lashing out at the party regarding its constant attempt to find loopholes in the system, Gupta claimed that AAP is blaming every institution that is vital to maintain law and order in the country, be it the Supreme Court, Election Commission or the CAG. "I challenge Arvind Kejriwal to appeal to the Supreme Court in case of any conflict of interest. However, the party must immediately stop looting public money," asserted Gupta. Meanwhile, Delhi Lieutenant Governor directed the chief secretary to recover an amount of Rs 97 crore from Aam Admi Party (AAP) for allegedly 'splurging' government's money on advertisements and violating Supreme Court guidelines. The LG's order came a few months after a Centre-appointed three-member committee indicted the AAP government of "misusing" public money on advertisement and violating the Supreme Court guidelines. The committee was set up following a Supreme Court order that sought to address issues related to content regulation in government advertising (CGRA) in 2015. The committee had forwarded its report to the chief secretary, Delhi on September 2016 for subsequent action. (ANI)
