New Delhi [India], Oct 29 (ANI): Cheer up travellers! In an interesting new concept, you can now barter your way to a free hotel stay.
Yes, you heard that right!
The first ever global ‘Barter Week’ is all set to take place from November 19 to 25 wherein more than 450 properties in 60 countries have signed up for the initiative. You can stay in one of these properties for free, in exchange for a service.
“During the third week in November, travellers can stay in B&Bs without putting their hands in their pockets if they are skilled in manual, teaching or creative tasks, or arrive with something from home for their bed-and-breakfast hosts,” Barter Week's organisers said.
The traveller can select from the list of ‘wishes’ that the owner has listed online. However, if there is no ‘wish list’, one can offer a barter of their own.
For instance, a guesthouse in Florence is willing to offer a free stay, instead of the usual USD 120 (approx.) per night to a traveller, who can help them set up a social media campaign on Instagram.
The scheme is the international spinoff of Italy's ‘Settimana del Baratto’ - the annual event promoted by Bed-and-Breakfast.it, and successfully in its tenth edition. The Italian event now includes properties that accept barter all year round. Its success led the organisers to come up with the first international version. (ANI)
