Washington DC, [USA] Aug 22 (ANI): In a rare act of kindness, a woman police sergeant on duty breastfed a crying baby to calm her down.
The sergeant was on patrol at a local children's hospital in Argentina's Berriso area when she heard a baby crying.
The officer, Celeste Jaqueline Ayala, who recently became a mother was able to guess from the wails that the infant was in urgent need of food, and therefore she breastfed the baby, reported CNN.
It was a move unforeseen by her colleagues. So, one of her colleagues, Marcos Heredia, took a picture of her breastfeeding and posted it on Facebook. The post has been shared over 112,000 times till now.
In the post he wrote, "I want to make public this great gesture of love that you had today with that little baby."
The incident which took place on August 14 was coincidentally the 'National Day of the Female Officers' in Argentina.
The Buenos Aires Provincial Police, while speaking to CNN, confirmed that Ayala spoke to the hospital authorities before breastfeeding the baby.
Interestingly, the baby was recently separated from her mother. The reason for which is not known as of yet.
Following this rare gesture, Ayala is now promoted to the rank of an officer. (ANI)
