The day has resulted in some hilarious, some motivating, and some interesting tweets being shared on the micro-blogging site.
Here are some of the most interesting ones:
Kara Goucher, American long-distance runner, wrote, "This 9 year old version of me could never have imagined where running would take me. To college on a scholarship, to 2 Olympics, 4 World Teams, countless friendships, help her find her strength and passion. She had no idea. ??Where has running taken you? #GlobalRunningDay", while sharing a picture of herself from her childhood.
