IRW Winter/Festive '17: 'Rangyatra' by Shubhashini Ornamentals paints Day 2

New Delhi [India], October 08 (ANI): India Runway Week Winter/Festive 2017, on its second day, witnessed a vibrant journey of colours that the diverse yet united India has in it, courtesy jewellery designer Akassh K Aggarwal's 'Rangyatra.'

With a spirit to celebrate India, the collection resonated the symbolism of old tribal Indian art of dokra, koftgari, bidri, meenakari, peroi, jadau and more.

Add on to this was Bollywood's ace choreographer Geeta Kapoor, who graced the ramp in jewelleries by Akassh's 'Shubhashini Ornamentals'.

While speaking on the concept of the show, the young designer told ANI, "It was all about celebrating the country we are from. It was celebrating my identity as an Indian in the current scenario, when everything about India is being questioned, the scenario where there is a fear of existence."

Speaking about her involvement with the show, Geeta said, "I feel honoured to be part of a show where he (Akassh) has brought his ideas into fashion; the ideas that deserve to be spoken about. We don't normally speak about such issues. I loved the way he has subtly put everything into his own form of art."

Another mentionalble part in the show were the 'Trans Team' (transgenders), who graced the ramp being unapologetically "Who You are."

Other than this, the second day of the India Runway Week Winter/Festive saw collections by Aparna and Shruti (Apash) where singer Ankit Tiwari mesmerised everyone by his voice, while walking the ramp. It was followed by Rav by Vashu, who presented his Nakshatra collection; Élan by Rahul and Vidhu showcased 'Samhitha Collection'. Vintage Loom by Ashina Chharia, showcased her latest travel themed collection 'Wanderlust'.

Singer Shibani Dandekar walked the ramp for Twee-In-One by Niti Sehgal. The next lined up show was by designer Sehrish Kabir, who presented 'Dilkash'; it was followed by Nikheil and Rivendra where Ukrainian model Alexandra Kutas, the first fashion model with a disability, graced the show with her appearance.

La Styliste by Purvi Roy presented quirky formalwear at India Runway Week Winter Festive 2017.

Niharika Pandey, Varanasi Weavers and Artisans Society supported by AIACA, SoCHE also presented their collection for the audience.

There were also shows by Rajdeep Ranawat and Kaaisha by Shalini. (ANI)
