Tripura festival held in Bengaluru amidst much gaiety

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Nov 17 (ANI): Tripura cultural festival bought India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, to life by bringing unique culture and heritage of the North-eastern state to the city.

The festival was a joint collaboration of an NGO, 'My Home India' and people from Tripura who have settled in Bengaluru.

Youngsters from the state gathered in large number to be a part of the festival, which provided them with the opportunity to meet more people from their homeland.

An attendee, Saksha Choudhary said, "This is a big achievement for us and it was good to see the people of Tripura come here in large numbers to give us such a positive support. The factor of unity is the main outcome of the festival and a helpline number is also being launched here so that if the people of Tripura have any problems in the city, they can contact that number".

Two of the major attractions of the festival were- Indian Idol winner Sourobhee Debbarma's performance, and the famous 'Hojagiri folk dance' that was performed by the Reang people of Tripura.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ananth Kumar also graced the festival and expressed his pleasure in being part of the function.

"You all might belong from Tripura but we all are Indians, not only that you all are our dear residents of our Bengaluru and Karnataka", he said.

This noble pursuit to strengthen the brotherhood ties between North-Eastern India and the rest of India was initiated by Sunil Deodhar, under the concept of 'Home Away from Home'.

The festival was held on November 12 in Bengaluru's Good Shepherd Auditorium.

Such a festival will go a long way in establishing a strong bond among the people and will act as a bridge between states.(ANI)
