Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], Apr 12 (ANI): Celebrating the diverse culture, northeastern students residing in Punjab gathered in Jalandhar city and enthralled the locals with their exotic culture and traditions at the third edition of the Northeast Fiesta.

The two-day long event saw a mini version of the northeast region in the city of industries and education centers with cultural folk dance and songs of the region.

Since its inception in 2013, the carnival has brought forth the region's culture and lifestyle to the other parts of the country, especially in Punjab.

The cultural affair featured folk dances, folk songs, handloom and art exhibition, photography, and tourism exhibition from the northeast region.

The event was organised to promote their social values and lifestyles while adapting the culture of the new environment in the city and foster integrity, prosperity and excellence.

Students from Meghalaya and Manipur performed their cultural dances whereas various budding artists enthralled the audience with their melodious voice.

An upcoming fashion designer from Arunachal Pradesh, Rikyir Romin, showcased her brand collections 'ABO Tani' and 'Linthoi and Nandini' from Manipur and Assam displayed the summer designs under the theme 'LINAN'.

The event also featured Kritika Dulal of Sikkim, an FBB Campus Princess 2018 which was organised by Femina Miss India as showstopper during the fashion show.

Dulal said, "The purpose of this festival is to bring everybody together and showcase the culture and traditions of what northeast is and how northeast people stay. And just to show that northeast region is also a beautiful part of India".

In line with the cultural exchange program, the fiesta not only confined within the purview of the northeast and its people but it also brought to light the diverse culture from other parts of the country especially the Punjabi fusion.

The Northeast student community in the metro cities has been striving to promote their culture by inculcating the knowledge through various platforms and events. (ANI)
