Modigliani's nude painting auctioned for over $157 million

New York [U.S.A.], May 16 (ANI): A nude 1917 painting by Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani has become the fourth most expensive artwork to be sold at an auction, after it was purchased for a whopping $157.2million.
The painting, titled Nu couche (sur le cote gauche), was sold at a Sotheby's auction in New York on Monday, reported The New York Times.
It is the largest masterpiece by the famed artist.
Nu couche, which was painted a century ago, was also purchased for the highest price in Sotheby's history and was the star single lot in the May auction.
Leonardo da Vinci's 'Salvator Mundi' currently holds the record for the most expensive painting ever sold. It was auctioned for $450.3 million in November 2017. (ANI)
